If you aren’t used to working from home, it can be quite the transition. No matter what work from home looks like for you, these points apply to you! Take a look at our top 10 do’s and don’t of working at home to help prepare you for success.

Do invest in the right equipment

I know that making a purchase before you even start can be hard to do sometimes, but it really does matter. By ensuring you have the right equipment to work from home you are setting yourself up for success. The fewer technical issues, the more productive you can be!

Don’t limit yourself to working 9-5

When working with Work at Home Workforce under one of our open Independent Contractor positions, you have 100% flexibility of your schedule after you certify. You create your own schedule each week based on what hours your client is needing agents to service. Be in charge of your schedule and be creative with your working times.

Do decorate your workspace

This can seem like a nuisance of a task when you first find where you will be working. However, having your space decorated with things you like and maybe a couple plants will help your space seem more welcoming. Naturally allowing your work to flow much easier.

Don’t turn the tv on

This can be detrimental to your productivity! Save the screen time for when you’re not working. I understand the “need” to multitask to focus so instead, try some music or even a podcast. Your brain is still feeling the stimulation but your eyes are able to focus, not going back and forth from task to task.

Do get dressed daily

Whatever this looks like for your profession, always get ready before working. By doing this you are making your brain aware of what’s about to happen and in turn, you may find yourself more mentally prepared for work before you even get in front of your computer.

Don’t forget to take breaks

Sitting in front of your computer for hours on end can be really tough on your back and eyes. Side effects you may not notice immediately, but could lead to serious issues with time. Another way to help your back is to have an ergonomic chair that will do your back better than you could imagine.

Do get things organized

As mentioned in our blog Work from Home Efficiently, having a dedicated space for your work things will cut out any time you may spend searching for different items throughout your work time. It also makes working and gathering your things more pleasing to your subconscious as it is less work than gathering your supplies before getting to work.

Don’t snack all day long

This can be a hard one, especially if your work at home set up is near your kitchen! Make sure you are getting plenty of water. The easiest way to know how much your body specifically needs is to divide your body weight in half and that’s how many ounces of water you should consume. Feeling snackish? Try one of these healthy options to help your body feel its best.
